About Us

Dr. Fabio Solano received his M.D. from the University of Costa Rica in 1969, and
his Surgical Residency in 1974. He is a lifelong member of American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

He completed his honorary post-graduate studies in advanced surgical techniques
such as Coloproctology at the Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester,
England from 1978 to 1980. In Costa Rica, he became a pioneer in medicine
by successfully introducing Coloproctology to the medical field. He then was
appointed as Surgeon General at Mexico Hospital from 1980 until 1992.

He was then invited to be part of CIMA Hospital when it opened in 2000. Dr. Solano's role at the hospital is as General Surgeon, also working in the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy unit and Proctology unit. He also performs:

  • Abdominal Laparoscopy
  • Hernia Repair
  • Upper and Lower Endoscopy (Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy) 
  • Polipectomy
  • Proctological procedures for Hemorrhoids, Fistula and Fisure.
  • Medical Checkups.
  • General Surgery

CIMA Hospital is the largest private hospital in Costa Rica and is accredited by the Joint Commission, the same regulatory body that oversees U.S. hospitals.
